Mind’s Muscle

Posted on Posted in Mind, Self Help

Dear Journal,

I had just received yet another very polite letter from the HR company of one of the companies I have always have interest in. I was excited when I first read the subject of mail in the hub of my Blackberry. I opened it excitedly and it read:

Human Resources

I was totally crushed. Just this morning as I walked out of my room carrying my 14 month old toddler to the bathroom, I caught a glimpse of my last year’s vision board on the wall with the logo of the company XXXX. I remember making a declaration in my mind that I would work there someday. Right underneath their logo was my own logo for faariakinola, in that spilt second I remember the conflict in my heart, Abisoye, you want to work at company XXXX and you also want to be a woman of your own??? Confused.com! what exactly do you want?
A quote I had once heard a Preacher say came to my mind earlier than now (time of writing this). He mentioned the original person that created the quote but that skips my mind right now. The quote is as follows:

“Your Life travels in the direction of your dominant thought pattern”

What is on your mind? Are you aware better still are you conscious of your dominant thought pattern? Most times we are not even deliberate about what our mind feeds on. We often times allow our minds be fed without making a conscious effort to feed it. The muscles of our mind expand and grow stronger the more we stretch it and feed it deliberately with great stuff or otherwise.
Hence the vision board (thank you Steph), you can find how to create this on her website. Bottom line is to exercise the muscle of your mind and feed it with great food not junk and passive information. I ended 2015 making conscious effort to what I ALLOW to pass through my mind and feeding my mind with great inspiring content. I deliberately INVESTED time on the internet searching out and learning new things. I started this journaling  because I read in one of Joyce Meyers devotional that we atrophy without goals and vision to reach for.  And we birth these goals and vision in our minds.
The synonyms of atrophy are quite strong and they all are exactly what we do to our minds when we do not consciously feed and stretch them. Lets get started…
Lets stretch!
Cheers
Yours in finding herself
Faari
