It’s not personal.
It’s just a business decision!
So I was privileged to seat in a unit meeting.
My department has just been given a new direction under the leadership of a newly appointed C_ suite leader in the organization.
It was part of the restructuring the company was doing.
I am excited about it because she is female and quite inspirational.
Someone complained about how we were not quite satisfied some issues and how it can be better. Excited that someone voiced the general feeling and opinion in the room
Madame schooled us mehn!
Most times it’s about your own personal and mental development, your own. You owe to yourself to develop yourself to become strategic about the value you bring to the table!
Follow the money and create value leading to it!
Burst your “in_this_company” bubble!
Sometimes we are too engrossed in the goings on in our organization that we forget that there is a bigger sphere waiting for our value to heard!
After all, is said and done.
The decisions to have you stay in that organization is based on a business decision for the company’s bottom line!
Are you going to be a great business decision or a bad one?
Are you building your brand with credibility?
Happy after workers day and I wish you a fantastic month ahead.
It is after all the 5th month.
How to tell your professional value
Document your journey:
With the hustle of Lagos and keeping up with work, it easy to lose sight of what is actually happening within and around you.
1. Celebrate your wins. Be aware of them, document them, they would help tell a story of your professional brand. Example; for a recently concluded project, craft the benefit of that project to the organization and your role in it. It becomes your pitch.
2. Your last success is your reference point and who you need to compete against to get to the next level.
You would not move to the next level of success with the same mentality that got you there.
Trust me this one is a constant reminder and struggle even for me
So that you don’t get frustrated when all your good work isn’t seen. Document them so you can hold your narrative.
Our minds are too fickle to remember if you don’t tell us!
